This plant is also cultivated in Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand. These rhizome geophytes grow well in humid and deciduous forest. It grows in shaded areas of hill-slopes. The color of the rhizome is bright yellow and it is aromatic. This plant reaches a height of 50 cm tall and the oblong or ovate shaped leaves grow up to 12 cm wide. The fragrant rich flowers are pink in color and produced in terminal inflorescences.
